School visits to the Maritime Museum are free of charge for all children in primary and secondary education.

Year 1-5


The Maritime Museum tells the story of when ships were built in wood and powered by sails and wind as they braved the seven seas. Building of sailing ships in the shipyard and the everyday life of the crew are in focus. Our main exhibition features exciting activities. 
Duration: 1 - 1.5 hours depending on number of pupils.


Year 6-10
The visit starts with a walk at Biodden with focus on Grimstad as a maritime town. Pupils are told the story of the battle of Grimstad harbour, and will learn about street names, ballast plants and 1800s architecture. At the end is a visit to the Maritime Museum in Hasseldalen. Building of sailing ships in the shipyard and the everyday life of the crew are in focus. Our main exhibition features exciting activities.

 

Duration: 1.5 - 2 hours depending on number of pupils.

COLLEGES/UPPER SECONDARY


For college/upper secondary students, we offer five different town walks, two park visits and guided tours of our three museums. When visiting as a group, a 50% student discount will apply.
